THE QUARANTINE TAPES
|
March 14, 2020 was my first day in quarantine from the Coronavirus epidemic. The day before was a regular day in New Jersey, but everything seemed to change overnight. The music on this album is a series of solo improvisations for flute with effects pedals recorded between March and May of 2020. Looking back, these tracks form a "sound diary" of my experiences and feelings on that particular day. The Quarantine Tapes were my medicine during this time, and I hope that they are healing for you, too.

THE GLISSANDO FLUTE: HANDBOOK FOR COMPOSERS AND PERFORMERS
Introducing the first-ever method book for the Glissando Headjoint.
This headjoint allows the flutist to easily play bends... and much more! Written by Melissa Keeling. Available as hard-copy and e-book. Also available from Flute Specialists. "A significant addition to the flutist's canon. The Glissando Flute will stand alongside the classic pedagogical works for flute and will open the way for players now and for many generations to come." Robert Dick |
SUPERSONYQ
SUPERSONYQ is refreshing and necessary to exploring the boundaries of the flute.”
The Flute View
"Revelatory... Keeling's compositions and her playing represent the full 64-color box of Crayolas
while the rest of us are making do with an eight-pack of crayons."
Flutist Quarterly
"I listened to all of SUPERSONYQ and it's quite an achievement! Bravo!
My favorite tracks were "Eruption" (of course) and the Debussy, which is absolutely gorgeous.
You've really turned looping on its head, transcending the repetitive aspects and finding paths to keep the sound evolving...
Your voice on the flute has a depth and beauty that enrich all the music made with effects... [I] heard a lot of things I've not heard before."
Robert Dick
