 What is the "Electric Flute"?
The electric flute setup is an amplified flute with effects added to the signal chain.
  • To amplify the flute: play flute into a microphone, and connect the microphone to a speaker.
  • Then, put any effects you want (such as delay, harmonizers, distortion, and reverb) between the microphone and the speaker.

WHY?
Playing effects opens up many musical possibilities for the flutist.
And... it's fun!

HOW?
See the Setup Guide, Effects, and Music for Electric Flute pages on this site to help you get started!

I offer lessons and consulting sessions for anyone interested in learning how to setup the gear and make music using effects. Contact me at

melissa@melissakeeling.com and I'd be happy to learn more about you and your musical goals!
